Darts Pointe just may be Mount Pleasant, South Carolina’s best-kept secret. Hidden away in Dunes West, the town’s only gated community, Darts Pointe is a high-end neighborhood featuring traditional and Charleston-style homes.
Lots in this appealing neighborhood are larger than most, typically more than a third of an acre. In general, these are larger John Wieland and custom-built homes constructed of cement plank or wood. For the most part, the Wieland homes have upgraded interiors, including features such as solid surface counters, smooth ceilings, hardwood floors and other details found on more expensive homes. Square footage tends to be in the 4,000 to 6,000 range.
The homes are situated on a variety of lots–interior, pond, marsh and tidal creek–which affect their asking price. They start at around $800,000 and range all the way up to well more than $1 million. Currently, there is a home listed for a bit more than $2.3 million; nearly 6,500 square feet, it boasts five bedrooms and five-and-a-half baths. Its spacious living area and enormous, well-equipped kitchen provide the ideal venue for entertaining guests. A salt-water pool, spa and deck overlook the marsh.
Of course, Dunes West offers a nearly perfect lifestyle. Within the gates are a golf course and clubhouse that is much in demand for weddings and other events. And for those who want to be active, a pool/splash zone, tennis courts and a workout facility are centrally located in the relatively new amenities center.
Families looking for communities with good schools will find that Darts Pointe is in an excellent district that includes Charles Pinckney Elementary, Cario Middle and Wando High.
Darts Pointe is conveniently located near the beach, an ever-growing number of restaurants serving up everything from fast food to haute cuisine and leisurely shopping at Mount Pleasant’s “outdoor mall,” Towne Centre.
Mount Pleasant was voted one of Money magazine’s “2006 Best Places to live in the United States.” It just might be that Darts Pointe is one of the best places to live in Mount Pleasant.
